jam-style performance with arrangements that more or less fall together on
the bandstand (with a big band) is one of the markers of the KC
style..............and THAT, Steve, is "Kansas City style".

Don't know if it's KC style or not but you could insert just about any city.
"......your town here......." style. This basic style used by players
almost everywhere and is the classic way head arrangements are put together.

It's really simple. An intro, the Dixie head, followed by solos usually in
a set order then the Dixie out chorus. This works best with throw together
bands and there is absolutely nothing wrong with this method of putting
things together but a lot of people out there including a lot of jazz club
people think that this is the only way to do it. A lot of them lack an
arranged sound and endless solos in every tune can get boring. Some bands
only play 8 or 10 tunes an hour or less. IMO That's just too long for a
tune to go. Of course the better the musicians the better this comes off.
