My memory is poor, but I recall, recently, that the State of California, or, maybe one of the large districts, has reinstituted music
as a "must have" part of the school curriculum. Either instrumental or vocal.

I had the impression that someone woke up to the fact that without music, the school curriculum is inadequate both from a performing
arts view point as well as an important supplement & catalyst to the academic development of the student.

Proof !!! The last President California has given to the nation was a man who grew up in the mid west at a time when music was
mandatory. a recent two term President was a tenor sax player, the recently retired Chairman of the Fed was a Tenor Sax - Clarinet
player. Our current President did not play an instrument and, apparently, has suffered the consequences.
