Franklyn MacCormack's sponsor back then was Meister Brau beer (The Meister
Brau Showcase). Norman Ross had a show sponsored by Tallman Savings (Tunes
from Tallman.)
I was a regular Saturday night listener to MacCormack because of his
"Curtain Call" hour from midnight to 1:00 a.m.

Subject: [Dixielandjazz] WGN Radio - Saturday Nights after the gig
<<Thanks Bill. I find it helpful and will give it a listen. During the past
15 years, I played a few Saturday weddings up that way and remember
listening to him for a while on the way home. When I got too far South, I'd
tune in
WKCR-FM, 89.1 at Columbia University, NYC and then WBGO, 88.3 in Newark.
Then
a few minutes of silence until I got in range of WRTI-FM 90.1 in
Philadelphia. That was a 160 mile drive home with jazz radio just about all
the way.
Cheers,
Steve Barbone>>
For me, it was in the late '60s and very early '70s . . . Saturday nights
in
the midwest, on the way home from the gig . . . WGN Radio - Chicago, with
Franklin McCormick and the Tallman All Night Showcase.
Theme song: Melody of Love
Many that guy was good!
Nostalgically yours,
Bill
