Hi Folks:
I was out yesterday making a meeting at a local Funeral Home for a
service coming up in a few days, and had a very pleasant surprise when
I found out that the lady funeral director who called me to arrange the
N.O. Funeral for her client was none other than the Grand daughter of
the late great Earl "Fatha" Hines , and we had a wonderful time
chatting about him. I had an opportunity to play a couple of club
dates with him many years ago in the San Francisco area, and booked a
few shows for him. I had never met his family however, so this was an
unexpected pleasure.
Small world indeed.
I also dropped by another Funeral home nearby to introduce my band to
them for bookings, and an elderly gentleman who owned it was delighted
to get my card and broke into a great big smile and said first off I
want you to play for my funeral, :)) he then told me that his father
had passed ( a long time ago ) well I would think so since this fellow
is at least 80 ish, :)) But he remembered well his Father's request
that they play Rampart Street Parade on his way out and My didn't he
Ramble. :))
Then we had a good laugh when I told him about my Pre- Need plan Pay
Now Die Later :)) Which allows you to pick your own songs and tempos.
:)) He thought it was a great idea.
Cheers,
Tom Wiggins
