Recommended reading: "700 Sundays," by Billy Crystal (Time Warner Book
Group, 2005).

This is not so much an autobiography as it is a memoir and tribute to the
family and friends that made him what he is today.

Actually, all I really recommend is Chapter 3. Billy's father ran the
Commodore Music Store and his uncle was Milt Gabler of Commodore Records.
Chapter 3 is his view of the NYC jazz scene in the '40s and '50s. It
tells of his relationships with the likes of Billie Holiday, Willie "The
Lion" Smith, Zutty Singleton, Roy Eldridge, PeeWee Russell and a host of
others. Very interesting.

He drops similar names throughout the rest of the book, too, but Chapter
3 is devoted solely to jazz.
