Larry & all the rest of you band leaders and even solo guys:

I have told you all about it before and most of you or all of you have
totally ignored me, so here it is one more time before I just write all
of you off as hopeless deadbeats and never willbe's.

Go create yourself a Sonicbids electronic press kit and send it to
every place that you even remotely think might hire you for a gig, you
can update it in live time for each and every prospect, change and
delete content at will, change the songs to listen to suitable for the
gig you are trying to book etc.

Just stay away from all the site hype and the drop boxes which are a
waste of time and money. You can send out this electronic press kit
with a customized letter to anybody with an email address in the world.
Heck if you can figure out how to use email you can figure out how to
create an epk and save yourself a lot of time money and postage and
forget about live auditions anymore.

You folks all have a computer now so use it as the tool it is meant to
be and was created for by Al Gore :))

go get one today and start using it. I have one for all my acts and we
use them all day every day of the week to book gigs and promote our
shows.

Subject: [Dixielandjazz] Advertising - What's good?

Lacking a gig for St. Patrick's day I decided to send out a mailing.
 My data
base has about 85 entries. The cost to send out cost $31.45 plus about
Ten
cents for the contents (color laser print two sides plus a 1/3 page
enclosure).
That was four days ago and I got two calls one of whom is booking
multiple gigs
which I discount 10%. That seems to be a pretty good return on my
investment
but I would like to do better.

I also have a web site but that hasn't been a money maker so far except
to refer
people to for sound clips.

I was wondering if anyone else had an angle on advertising. In the
past I have
tried Yellow Pages, Newspapers and bridal shows which haven't been that
impressive and are pretty expensive.

We don't do a lot of "public" events which tends to cramp us a little
so far as
word of mouth or people seeing and hiring us.
