Tom,
Ed Mets and the Bob Cats have been to Sacramento.
And why bring a band from Leningrad? You of all people should know the PR
we
get from having a band from Russia.
Comon, I don't appreciate the back-handed insult to the Sacramento Jazz
Jubilee.
We have close to 1000 bands who apply and want to come to Sacramento. We
can only hire so many. We are limited as to how many we can hire from back
east, or over seas because of the price of airlines, hotels, etc.
While our previous Exec Director was in charge, we got quite badly in the
red.
Under our new Exec Director, new Board of Directors, we have paid off just
about all of the bills.
We have flirted with hiring a Tony Bennett, Harry Connick, etc but until now
have not had the reserve funds to back such a move.
Something such as this might come about in the next year or two. Depends on
how it goes this year.
Sacramento is a wonderful, happy event. We do not need folks such as you
denigrating it.
We have 3000 very dedicated volunteers who work hard to put on such a great
festival. The bands enjoy playing for it. Otherwise they would turn us
down when they get the call.
The fans enjoy attending such a great event.
If you don't like it, stay away. But don't insult us.
