A. Some do gigs because of their need to do something in front of an  
audience, earn money, etc. i.e., self-centric motivation.
 
B. Others do gigs because they like to brighten the corner where they are  by 
entertaining.  Group B can be educable and often learn through time how  to 
indeed be entertaining plus earn more money.  Plenty of kitchen bands,  novelty 
bands, and such who learn how to bring pleasure to audiences fit my  
definition of quality entertainment.  Plenty don't -- if the whom they  are 
entertaining is themselves. (See A above.)
