Funny, I was talking with our pianist about just that last night.  We've
been invited in the past to jazz festivals (as earlier discussed here on
DJML), but they don't want to pay what we would normally charge any City
Hall for a normal concert.  I don't even bother to bargain with them, as I'm
talking one price, and you can tell they're thinking way, way below that.

Nope!  Not free, and not even for a lowered price.

We don't see "free events" over here, nor do bands go out free as far as I
know, but there does seem to be the poor cousins effect to Dixieland, at
least in the festival field, when one compares OKOM to the so-called modern
jazz festivals, in price & in demand.
