Heck, maybe the lyrics were referring to both light skinned blacks (Creoles)
and dark skinned blacks. Like Black & Blue?

PC? Well, IMO, if it offends someone change them, if not, don't.

Kind of like "That's Why They Call Me Shine." Some idiot changed the lyrics
about 1927 or so and completely screwed up the energy of the song, as well
as its original meaning.

Basin Street was where all the whorehouses were in New Orleans and that's
what the song is about. I'd guess most folks don't know that so maybe we
should announce that when we play it. Or should we not play it because
whorehouses are not PC? <grin>
