[Dixielandjazz] Mentor / Mentored - Teacher / Pupil

The issue in educating isn't "teaching" or "mentoring" it's that you are
working with individuals. No two individuals are alike. Who/what works
wonderfully with individual "A" may go right up the spout with individual
"B." The question is the ability of a provider to put forth an appropriate
match in ideas, abilities and opportunities for the recipient(s). The degree
to which the provider directly or indirectly achieves this end, will
determine the success of the event or relationship. This is true in any
learning situation that is established in music, math, or any other area.

Isn't the very essence of the thread that; All Mentors are teachers, BUT not
all teachers are Mentors? (OPINION)>.

Hi Steve

as far as it goes I would agree. That is the very nub.

Mentored? No!. The recipient of the mentors wisdom is a `pupil` and the
pupil is `taught` Never..never..(shudder)...`.mentored`

Cheers
