The July-August Hot Jazz Channel show is now live at www.radiojazz.co.uk
Delayed by a few days due to technical gremlins the programme features
eighteen tracks - many new to broadcast media.
Headlining this month are Phil Mason's New Orleans All-Stars and also in the
show are Duke Heitger's New Orleans Wanderers, the Franz Jackson Original
Jass All-Stars with Bob Shoffner, guitarists Lonnie Johnson & Eddie Lang,
Pee Wee Russell with the Alex Welsh Band and Norman Thatcher's Ragtime Band.
In the swing segment we're featuring the Allan Vaché Sextet with John
Cocuzzi, the Duke Ellington Orchestra and the Gene Harris - Scott Hamilton
Quintet. The historic feature this month has tracks by the Louis Armstrong -
Sidney Bechet Red Onion Jazz Babies, Louis Dumaine's Jazzola Eight and
Johnny Dodds New Orleans Wanderers. An unusual inclusion in a later segment
is a track by a group of jazzmen chosen by Keith Nichols playing with the
Northern Sinfonia and celebrating the symphonic jazz of Paul Whiteman. Also
in the new show are the Dave Brubeck Quartet with St. Louis Blues, Turk
Murphy's San Francisco Jazz Band, John Petters' New Orleans All-Stars with
Ken Colyer, the Bix Beiderbecke Centennial All-Stars with Jon Erik Kellso,
Dan Levinson, Howard Alden, Vince Giordano and many others. The final track
in this new show is by the Bob Adams Blue Chip Jazz Band who are new to
radio and from Cincinnati.
The Hot Jazz Channel shows are hosted by Brian Harvey and engineered by
John Booth.
