  Novel police reports

These police reports are printed in the Arcata Eye, the weekly, irreverent newspaper of the little town of Arcata, CA way up in the Humbolt Bay area. The editor, one Kevin L. Hoover, prides himself in his poetic talent. To this end, he summarizes the turgid police reports into Limericks. Hope you are amused by Kevin's take on the human drama supplied by street musicians. He, by the way, has been praised by the NY Times. Below are samples.

July 3, 2007
2:27 p.m.
Two minstrels propounded a ditty
Which made someone near slightly snitty
Were harmonies haunting?
Or repertoire daunting?
No, they just played kinda shitty.

June 26, 2007
A sax player's honkworthy thunder
Tore Ninth and H silence asunder
Cops went to the corner
But found nary a horner
At the site of the brassical blunder

 Monday, May 28 11:38 a.m.
A flute broke some wind on the square
And after two hours out there
The flautist who flaunted
Was told he weren't wanted
And flitted off elsewhere to blare

 Sunday, April 29 1:45 a.m.
At 12th and C, bongos in bloom
Rang out, bopping forth in the gloom
The bongoly groove
>From drums on the roove
Caused sleepyhead neighbors to fume.

 February 20, 2007
10:20 p.m.
A sax player paying street dues
Played sidewalk-wise versions of blues
And deafened the droves
>From an H Street alcove
Till cops came with Muni Code news.

Feb. 13, 2007
10:35 p.m.
A bongo's enthrobulant snort
Welled up somewhere near Adams Court
When thencely a copper
Confronted the bopper
Throbnoxiousness had to abort.
