[Dixielandjazz] Al Hirt: Not jazz?

When I was in the Navy in Pensacola from '56 thru '59 I was in
New Orleans several times and listened to both Al Hirt and Pete Fountain
on those trips. I don't know what YOU'd call it, but it sure as hell sounded
like great jazz to me. I later lost interest in much of Al's recorded stuff
when
he started laying down so many notes per measure, but those memories and
his early records are treasures to me.
