The Victorian Jazz Club (Melbourne, Australia) has successfully ran a
program teaching young people traditional jazz for many years now. Some of
the top youngish ( about 30 yrs) trad jazz musicians in Australia came out
of this "school" years ago.
The "veteran" muso's have been donating their time to teach the kids. They
have also been able to bring the new young talent into their bands.
Listmate Mick Potter could tell more about this as he is from Melbourne.

Canberra (also Australia did this once and got the brilliant Michael McQuaid
out of that experience. Michael began playing as the clarinetist with the
Black Mountain Jazz Band at 15.
