Hello all,

The website has been updated with 3 items of great historical interest to
devotees of Joe Lamb, Eubie Blake and J. Lawrence Cook.

Author and ragtime authority Ed Berlin sends a superb article on the famous
ragtime composer Joseph Francis Lamb. This accompanies Lamb's WW1 draft
registration card.

Genealogist Peter Hanley sends an article on Eubie Blake. This accompanies
Blake's WW1 draft registration card in glorious Technicolor, which I
personally handled at the National Archives. The draft card clearly shows
Blake's birth year as 1887. In 1974 J. Lawrence Cook told me on that Eubie
Blake wasn't as old as he made out. Of course, at that time, I had nothing
in the way of documents to prove his real age.

Prof. Brian Dolan and Prof. Alan Wallace send the 6th in a series of superb
articles written by J. Lawrence Cook for the International Musician
magazine, dated July 1941. The article also includes scans of hand-written
music examples by Cook.

The above items can be accessed from the grey UPDATED BOX at:

http://www.doctorjazz.co.uk/

Future articles and WW1 draft registration cards will include : Zez Confrey,
Lester Melrose, Warren "Baby" Dodds, George W. Thomas, J. Russel Robinson,
Richard M. Jones, Fletcher Henderson, Lee S. Roberts and Percy Wenrich.

Musically yours

Mike.
