For the record, the IAJE did have a panel discussion about Trad Jazz a few
days ago in NYC. See below:

January 12 9:00 a.m.

--- start snip
Panel: Still Swingin': Trad Jazz Is Alive and Well. A discussion of how
traditional jazz is still being marketed and performed all over the world.
Moderator: Leslie Johnson (Mississippi Rag). Panelists: Jim Cullum
(Riverwalk), Mat Domber (Arbors Jazz), Wycliffe Gordon, John Shoup (Dukes of
Dixieland). Location: New York West, Sheraton 3rd Floor.

---end snip

However this little session is like pissing upstream. To see the entire
schedule of the IAJE Convention which is HUGE go to:

I think you'll agree that the above panel discussion was pretty tame in
comparison to the rest of the program. And, unfortunately, did not really
reflect the expertise of those Dixieland Bands that are in the trenches
marketing to kids on a regular basis, or that of TJEN.

Ah well, maybe next year.

Cheers,
Steve Barbone
