Dear Ed and Steve,
It is indeed, as the ever-simple Mac does not use that system.
We discussed this on the list in relation to real quotation marks and commas
about 7-8 years ago, as Bill Gunter will probably recall.
I also note that, although he has a Mac, some (but not all) of Tom Wiggins'
recent posts arrive littered with little squares!
I have not bothered to investigate why and have learnt to put up with it.
Fortunately my MS Entourage 2004 email program has a facility in the 'Edit'
menu to remove quotes <> from messages. I use it frequently.
