[Dixielandjazz] Crappy pianos - the solution

Well with all those burned pianos does that mean that perhaps someone
actually has been shooting the piano player all these years ?
As for the lesson Larry: well maybe most audiences just don't listen
to or hear music the way we musos do and it may just not be all that
important to them. That has generally been my interpretation at most
Weddings anyway. They are simply preoccupied with their own agenda to
really pay that close attention to the music. Unless of course it is
a musicians wedding :)) Then the whole audience and bridal party are
of course critics. :)) The other lesson is take h money thank them
very much and run before they ask for a refund, and if that happens,
BLAME it all on the obviously not very good piano player and only
refund his pay :))
Running for cover now :((
Cheers,
Tom Wiggins

In the early 60's my band had a gig at a VFW hall in South St.
Louis. We
were used to out of tune but this piano was missing strings and hammers
right in the middle. The show must go on and we proceeded to sound
really
bad and the piano player was playing solos in the top couple of
octaves.
Did I forget to say it was really out of tune? The evening drew to a
close
and I could foresee that we weren't going to get paid but the Brides
father
paid us and even gave us a tip. He thought the band was great???? Not
only
that we booked three gigs off of that night.
There might be a lesson there for all of us but I'm not sure what it is.
Larry
St. Louis
