Hi Dave:
I must admit I was totally pre propaganda brainwashed by American
Media about what to expect when I arrived in Russia, and quickly found
out that all of them had been brainwashed about Americans the same way
in reverse. Once we both got past that Bs we had a warm and wonderful
time together, and I found that for the most part they are really no
different than us save for the propaganda, however they have learned to
ignore their politicians much better and quicker than we do. :))
I quickly learned that not all Russian women looked like what we have
been shown as OLGA in an Army Green swimsuit and not a bikini either
:)) I saw and met many very Beautiful women in all walks of life and
jobs, and all of them much prettier than the ones we see in the figure
skating competitions and olympics games.
They still do have a major Vodka problem there, and the men seem to be
really heavy into it, and these gorgeous women have to resort to
working very hard to support their families when the mens jobs
evaporate in the russian economy and they slip further and further down
into the vodka bottle. These lovely beauties then get turned into
rather plump Olga types very quickly after about age 33 or so from
working so hard and having their unemployed husbands just laying around
the house drinking vodka all day. Some of the men actually do go out
and sell their wives services to make ends meet and keep the vodka
flowing :))
Some even sell their wives to Foreigners from any country willing to
pay them money and some of the wives will go and marry the guys and
stay with them a few years and then divorce them and send money back
to bring their husbands over to the new land.
It is a big business. :)) I found Russia as a whole to be a lot like
the Old Wild West, but living it out in the Al Capone era .
Nice folks, bad circumstances to live and deal with at least according
to western standards.
Cheers,
Tom

Sounds like the same group I heard in Leningrad in 1971. They were
impressive, but I can¹t actually remember the name. They had the chops
and
I was impressed.
Further to Tom¹s comment, Russian prostitution is rife up in
northeastern
Turkey, especially in the surprisingly European-feeling port city of
Trabzon. Turks call them ³Natasha¹s². It is pretty sad to see. The
prettier and lucky ones fetch up with retired bachelor or divorced US
military officers, like some of my friends who chose to stay on in
Turkey.
It makes for some pretty interesting social dynamics, but the
relationships
I know about seem to be stable.
