Dear Andy, 
Oz jazzman, the late Ade Monsbourgh, had two plastic alto saxophones when
with the Graeme Bell Australian Jazz Band in the 50s.
As I am sure you know.
Several local jazzos here had plastic sousas, which I think were made from
fibre-glass.
