[Dixielandjazz] Keeley Smith deadpan approach

This is sound comic planning. Steve Martin used the same ploy to become
a comedic star in the rock era. He was getting nowhere doing stand-up in
typical hippie garb. Then he switched to a white suit and the rest is
history. Order in the middle of chaos is a classic set-up. I wonder, was
there anybody in the Spike jones outfit who worked this angle?

>Actually Keely's supposed boredom was part of their schtick. Prima, Butrera and the others would be going nutso on stage and she'd be standing in the middle of it totally detached until she threw a zinger at Prima. As someboby else on the list noted, Sonny and Cher picked up the bit and make it a part of their shows. Donnie and Marie Osmond did the same thing.
