Now here's a note that Dan Hardie and/or Bill Haesler might find
interesting.
Was jazz born in a Denver Whorehouse? :-) VBG
Cheers,

Jazz¹s Creation Myth
To the Editor:
Re ³In Search of the Man Who May Have Created Jazz,² by Michael Cieply
[April 22]:
The newspaperman Bat Masterson said he first heard jazz in Mamie Silk¹s
Denver whorehouse in the 1880s. This squares with Jell Roll Morton¹s
recollection in ³Mamie Desdume¹s Blues.² Could this birth, on the wrong side
of the bed, explain why jazz¹s origins may have been deliberately obscured?
