I have no problem with wearing matching or somewhat matching clothing on a 
gig, even black and white if it's a pure and simple pick-up band.  But, I'd 
rather wear something less waiter-like, esp on a restaurant gig.  Khakis and 
a denim shirt.  Matching polos with khakis or navy pants or whatever else.  
Just keep the dadgum garters to yerself!
