Could be, as he loved the genre. But by 1961 Roswell had recorded in NYC
with Cecil Taylor, Archie Shepp, Billy Higgins, Clark Terry and Steve Lacy
(another bopper who started as a Dixielander).

He chose to progress because the music was there. (like high notes) :-) VBG.

By 64 he was recording Monk tunes with Lacy.

I tried to see him in NYC earlier this year with his "Monksieland" program
which was a mixture of Thelonious Monk's ideas and Dixieland Style, but had
to gig in Philly. He is exciting to hear.
