As many may know, the Blue Note Jazz Nightclub has gone international with
locations in Japan and Italy as well as in New York City. The New York club
has a steller October Schedule that includes: Bill Cosby, Clark Terry, James
Moody, Wycliffe Gordon, Jay Leonhart (who used to play Dixieland in
Baltimore and is an extraordinary bass player), Dee Dee Bridgewater et. al.

And, oh yes, this Sunday, October 8, Jonathan Russell was supposed to appear
with Manny Duran at the Brunch show. But Manny is ill and unable to make it.
So management called Jonathan and asked him if he could put a band together
and keep his date.

Voila, "J" will be there October 8 with Ed Polcer cnt, Joe Ascione dms, Mark
Shane pno, Matt Hoffman Vibes, and a bass player (hopefully Mike Weatherly).
Ed Polcer gets roses for putting it all together at the last minute.

So, you NYC list mates. Have brunch this Sunday at the NYC Blue Note on West
3rd Street in Greenwich Village. (Not too far from where Condon's joint used
to be) I believe he appears at 12:30 PM but call ahead to make sure.

Call 212-475-8592 for reservations or to check his appearance time.

Or if you are in Milano, Osaka, Tokyo or Nagoya, stop in at their Blue Notes
and see such luminaries as Lou Donaldson, Diane Schurr, The Duke Ellington
Orchestra, Manhattan Transfer et al. Tell them your 11 year old pal Jonathan
Russell is tearing them up at the NY location.

Break a leg kid.

Cheers,
Steve Barbone
