Folks folks folks !!

Let's not fight this war all over again, seems we do it every year.

I have said my piece about this act in previous battles and will not re
visit the scene:

I will say this however in reply to esteemed listmate Cees post:

WHERE OR WHERE does all the MONEY GO ?? certainly not in players
salaries, and certainly not in restoration or enhancement of the
Preservation Hall. Heck not even a guy to fix the big hole in the back
wall, nor a paint of coat or new mural painted on the wall.

They should take notice of what Nashville did with the Grand Ole Opry
bringing that other american Icon and legendary institution into the
21st Century not to mention setting very high standards of quality for
the artists that perform on it which is whaT SUPPORT THE INSTITUTION
AND PAYS THE BILLS AND PAYS A LOT MORE ARTISTS THAN DOES PRESERVATION
HALL.

Yes as Steve said it is about MONEY, and it takes Money to make it
work. But where are all the Thousands yea millions that should have
been made off of an act of that revered status in the World.

Ooops I forgot they are PRESERVING THE HALL and the music, come on
guys that toilet stinks and is depressing to even visit, legend or no
legend, and the players in that band that know are not happy to be
there either, but it is like expected of them to all go there and play
to keep paying those historical DUES for Preservation. NOt unlike the
attitudes of some Traditional Jazz Preservation Societies elsewhere.

I am sorry but it will never be 1928 again, and we ain't gonna see on
five cents a gallon gas or two cents a loaf bread, not to mention no
free lunch.

Is John Brunius a good player yes a fine player, but don't go there
expecting to see and hear him every night they have a show, he is off
playing a Real Gig more than likely, if there are any real gigs left
in the city of New Orleans, as is Greg Stafford.

Cheers,

Tom don't wanna argue Wiggins

I've played, as a guest, in the preservation hall in 1983 and 1985.
And yes, the musical ability seemed poor, wrong word.;simple, wrong
word
again: basic.
But, playing there I adjusted to the "feel": recreating the old days and
had a ball! It's like a museum: you don't modernise a museum, you savour
the echo's of the past. A treasure to cherish. You don't change
Rembrandts
either.
You just look and get enchanted.
