Dear Bill and friends,
Hoagy Carmichael sings essentially the same words you quote on his recording
with Ella Logan, made in LA for Brunswick on 18 Oct 1938.
The minor variations are probably due to it being, unexpectedly, in double
time.
Also in your defence, three versions - the Carmichael above, the Bennie
Moten (1932) and the Casa Loma Orch (1932) - all use the "glass of wine" and
"black-eyed" words.
