[Dixielandjazz] Billy Crystal and OKOM background

Hi Rebecca and all,

It was his father, Jack, who ran Commodore. He's also Milt Gabler's nephew.
Billy tells the story of how Louis Armstrong visited his home and upon
hearing his hoarse voice, Billy's mother [or perhaps it was his grandmother]
said something like, '...just clear your throat, Louie. Cough it up!'

See the Wikipedia entry at... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Crystal

Best regards,

Ron Wheeler

Have any of you heard Billy Crystal tell about growing up listening to all
the Jazz Legends? I believe his uncle owned (or ran) Commodore Records in
NYC. According to Billy, his house was a favorite place for all night jams.
