[Dixielandjazz] Dixie Chicks going Dixieland?

You know I'm amazed at the press and hoopla about the Dixie Chicks. I was
flown to Dallas at the end of the first Gulf war and was at the monster
party thrown by Russ Perrot. (SP?). It was some party. I was in one of the
Air Force bands that played the parade. There were, I believe, 11
international bands there too. The party lasted three days and we were put
up in one of the best Dallas hotels with gourmet breakfast every morning
served by chefs. It was the largest gathering of Congressional Medal
winners ever.
They had a massive USO show for the 11,000 troops in town. Of the 5
headliners the three most prominent were the Buffalo Bills, the Gatlin
Brothers and the Dixie Chicks. Personally I had never heard of the group
but their performance was excellent and the troops were appreciative. I
wish I had a camera that night. Not to take a photo of the acts but of the
faces of the audience. It was an amazing display of patriotism and I'm
pretty sure they all performed free.
Another case of massive and spectacular gigacide by a music group.
