Clevedon Jazz Club's Final Gig!
Thursday 25 May 2006
Crusty's All-Sorts
It is with great sorrow that Clevedon Jazz Club have decided to suspend the Club's events at the Walton Park Hotel but with it's present lack of audience support and suffering severe cash flow problems this has to be the final event.
We may be closing but still going strong after all these years, the ever popular Crusty's All-Sorts are due to entertain the last Clevedon Jazz Club audience at the Walton Park Hotel, Wellington Terrace, Clevedon. on Thursday 25 May 2006.
Crusty and the All-Sorts have played for the 'Saturday Shoppers Concert' audiences as part of many of Clevedon Jazz Club's Long Weekends. Now it's time to entertain 'indoors' for a change, and what a great choice for Clevedon Jazz Club's 'swan song'.
Crusty is well known to Westcountry jazzers. He formed his first band whilst still at school at Clifton College before qualifying as an architect. By the early 1960's he had joined Bristol's best known band, the late Roger Bennet's 'Blue Note Jazz Band' with whom he performed regularly before joining the Beachcomber Stompers in the early 1990's. Since leaving the 'Stompers, Crusty has enjoyed the freedom to form his own band and do his own thing.
Crusty's All-Sorts are just that. You can never be sure who is going to be in the line-up on any 'gig' but you can always rely on the fact that the band will made up of some of the finest musicians from the Bristol area. With over 30 years experience playing drums locally, Crusty knows most if not all the local musicians extremely well and is able to call on that knowledge to form a band for any occasion.
Crusty has entertained on HMS Ark Royal, at the Berlin Philharmonic Hall, London's 100 Club, at the Malta Beer Festival and Bristol's Old Duke supporting the likes of Bud Freeman, Digby Fairweather, Buddy Tate, Georgie Fame, Wild Bill Davidson and Acker Bilk.
'We have enjoyed providing you with the music you have enjoyed - I'm sorry it couldn't last'. Doors open for the last time at 8pm for this final session and the music will start at 8.30pm. Admission on the door, will be £6.50 for non-members and £5 for members. Further details of this event can be had from Trev or Bill on 0700 5806 252.
