LEISURE: Festival season offers a little bit of everything

Spring has sprung and with the warm weather blows in the sweet blends of
music, food and dancing to be found at festivals around the region.
Before the long days of Summer arrive with the Solstice, there's a bunch of
not-to-miss festivals going off around the region.
Here's a look at some great, festivals happening soon in May and early June
around Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia. . . . snip to:
. . . All That '30s Jazz
Between 1926 and 1932, there was hardly a jazz band hotter than Joe Sanders
and Carleton Coon's Kansas City-based band, the Coon Sanders Nighthawks
Orchestra.
Those days of Dixieland jazz and ragtime come alive with dancing, silent
film, dinners and lots of jamming at the 39th Annual Coon Sanders Nighthawks
Fans Bash, set for May 19-20 at the Ramada Inn Limited on West Virginia 10.
Featured bands including The West End Jazz Band (from Chicago), The Toll
House Jazz Band (from Columbus), The 1937 Flood as well as the host band,
The Backyard Dixie Jazz Stompers, and many featured guest artists including
Eytan Uslan, a young ragtime piano player.
Events include at about 8 p.m. Thursday, May 18, a free jam session.
Dinner and dance begins at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Dinner and
entertainment are $55 per person or $30 for entertainment only.
The 1937 Flood play at a buffet breakfast at 9 a.m. Saturday. Cost is $10.
There's a Tea Dance at 1 p.m. Saturday. Cost is $5.
The entire weekend with meals is $125 per person, includes two evening
dinners and a Saturday breakfast.
