Greetings, DJML!
SACRAMENTO JAZZ JUBILEE!
May 26-29, 2006
Memorial Day Weekend
WHAT'S NEW FOR 2006?
New venue at Raley Field in West Sacramento / Lindy Hop Extravaganza / New
Orleans Specials / Riverboat Jazz Cruises / Steam Engine Shuttle / New RV
Parking Area / Children's Stage returns to Old Sac!
It's party time again! The whole town will be swingin' and swayin' to all
kinds of jazz, blues, salsa and more during Memorial Day Weekend (May 26-29)
for the 33rd annual Sac. Jazz Jubilee. We're celebrating New Orleans and the
music that was born there--traditional jazz--with two headliner bands from
New Orleans. No longer at Cal Expo, the entire festival is within walking
distance. Or you can take a quick shuttle to and from music venues
throughout Old Sac, the Convention Center, downtown hotels, Crocker Park,
and now Raley Field (Home of the River Cats), across the river in West
Sacramento. Swing dancers will light up the Convention Center Ballroom with
a Lindy Hop competition on Saturday, while riverboat excursions featuring
hot jazz bands will keep you cool on the Sacramento River. (25% discount for
Jubilee badge holders.) The Children's Stage (free for everyone) has
returned to the grassy area across from the CA State Railroad and Discovery
Museums in Old Sac. Oh, and here's something for kids of all ages: The
Railroad Museum will operate a steam shuttle between the museum in Old Sac
and Crocker Park -- a short ride along the river. Awesome! Make your plans
and get your badges now 'cuz it sure Sounds Like Fun!
