Dear John,
Apart from your Blythe(?) piano roll, there were only two early recorded
versions of "Brown Skin Mama".
The State Street Ramblers. 1 July 1928 (Gennett 6569) for which the label
composer credit is given as (Jimmy Blythe).
The Washboard Rhythm Kings [not the well known group]. 1 Nov 1935 (Bluebird
6157). Unfortunately, I have been unable to locate the label credit for this
one.
I have both titles on CD/LP and they are the same tune.
Although I have details and reissues of a few Jimmy Blythe piano rolls, I
have no information regarding this suspected "Brown Skin Mama".
Do you have the original roll details?
Was your midi taken from a reissue disc or direct from a roll?
Kind regards,
Bill.
