Macs require special software.

Save in WAV, MP3, WMA or AAC file formats for playback or to create 
audio CD's

External box and cables to record players, cassette players and to the 
computer of course.

These would be unedited files. To clean them up, add track numbers etc. 
you would still have to use a program like Magix or others that have 
been recommended. Those programs can also take inputs to the line in and 
audio in jacks and make files so it would just be an ease of use thing.. 
Check it out before you buy. for requirements and inputs.  It can be 
used as a player through your computer sound card also.
