[Robert Smith]

Don, I'm just another Smith.

However, here's a little tale that might amuse you.
First, let it be known that at birth I was registered "John Robert Smith", 
but, because a neighbour's new son was just after christened "John Robert", 
my parents had me christened "Robert John Smith". Ever since then, legal 
documents have the text "John Robert Smith alias Robert John Smith".

The reason for this long preamble is that many years ago, a local newspaper 
in Birmingham, England published a letter from someone with a name like (I 
forget the actual name) Charles Farnes-Barnes who wrote in to say that, to 
his amazement, when staying at a hotel he saw there was another guest with 
the same name. This started a whole series of letters from people with 
strange names reporting the same coincidences.
I stopped the flow of letters abruptly, by sending a letter thus:
"While staying at the So-and-So hotel in Brighton, I found there were no 
less than 31 guests staying there with my name.
Yours faithfully,  John Smith"

PS. I did once sign in at a hotel as John Smith, but this evoked no 
reaction, that just goes to prove that hotel receptionists are extremely 
well-trained.
