Dear Bill,
Were discussed Sarrusophones on the list before.
I can't comment on Bob Smith's attempt, but the definitive JAZZ exponent of
the instrument was Sidney Bechet, who used in on a record date for Okeh on
17 Dec 1924 .
"Mandy, Make Up You Mind/I'm A Little Blackbird Looking For A Bluebird".
Essential listening for ALL DJMLers..
Present with Bechet on this Clarence Williams Blue Five record are Louis
Armstrong, c; Charlie Irvis, tb; Clarence William, p; Buddy Christian, bj;
Eva Taylor, vcl..
It should not be too hard to find, as it is usually represented, somewhere,
in all good record collections.
Dig it out and listen before putting the instrument down.
I've just checked.
You can hear both titles on the wonderful Red Hot Jazz Archive site.
  redhotjazz,com
Google it, open Bands, scroll right down to Clarence Williams Blue Five,
open the discography (music clips) and search for both titles
alphabetically.
Kind regards,
Bill.
