Hi Bruce:

Would have been happy to dance with EVELYN  IF SHE HAD ASKED ME, OR 
DRAGGED ME KICKING AND SCREAMING FORM MY CHAIR,  but I don't know her 
and would certainly been happy to dance with any lovely lady :))

It's a tough job but somebody's gotta do it especially when all the 
musicians are on the bandstand and can't dance with em:))

See that's why I don't sit in at Jam Sessions,  gotta dance with the 
musically widowed band members damsels in the audience and run up their 
husbands bar tabs in the process.  :))   Next time tell her not to be 
shy, just slip up behind me and slap me up side the head and say dance 
boy. :))

ha ha.

Hey Listmates;

Today was one of those rare Sunday Afternoons I could pull myself away
from the office and home to hang out with some DJML listmates and  OKOM
musicians in my area.

I dropped into the Moose Lodge in San Pablo, California to catch Cell
Block seven led by listmate Bob Romans  who also often subs with Saint
Gabriel's when he can with the Double Bell Euphonium and the always
entertaining  Bill Gunter.  The convicts were in great form and had the
dancers prancing all afternoon.  Got to see and hear Pete Main play the
wierdiest instrument I have seen in a long time SousaSax or something
like that.  I can see why it never became a really popular instrument
besides the fact of what the Hell it costs to own one if you can find
it.   Sounds like the Flattest Saxophone I have ever heard, but then
again it might be I needed to have my hearing aids on or something,
anyway I only heard Pete play one song on it and not saying anything
against PETE'S PLAYING IT, ONE SONG WAS ENOUGH :))    Cell Block ripped
out three Double Bell Euphoniums for a tune that was so mellow I wanted
to  make love to the next person that walked bye, unfortunately it was
a very elderly gentleman that did not look like he would appreciate my
affection if they were indeed offered :))   So I just slid back to the
bar and ordered another Beer from the lovely lady bartender who was
more interested in taking my money for the beer  than an amorous
advance as the tune ended :))  Perhaps if the Convicts had played
another chorus I could have convinced her to come out behind the bar
AND DANCE :))

Had a pleasant afternoon and met up with some other list mates, Dottie
Lawless, Rae Ann Berry, Don Robertson, Banjoist Bruce Strangland,
Trumpeter Tom Belisimo ( spelling)  and even my friend and  one of St.
Gabriel's  Tuba Subs Michael Harryman from the Spirit of 29 Jazz Band
and Henry Clement's Gumbo Band  was there for the Jam set on Bass Sax,
that I don't get to see  them very often, and most of them lurk a lot
as I discovered.
Was indeed a fun afternoon with some great friends that I don't get to
see too often.
