[Dixielandjazz] Portable Battery Power

Some months ago there was a thread on portable, battery power supplies. I
carefully saved one comment and neglected to save the posters name; so, if
any of you have experience powering up for a gig where power is not
available, please help.

First, the comment on DJML was,
	 "We did not have electricity for the keyboard and amp, so I bought
a "power pac" at Costco, which I now recommend to any band that does outdoor
work, not always close to electricity.  It's heavy, but a great accessory
to power up mics   and electronic equipment.  One note, a guitarist on one
gig discovered his old "tube" amp buzzed with this power source, but the
fully "chipped" amps were OK.

	My unit powered a five octave keyboard and large amp for 9 hours."

That sounds like just the thing to power what I have . . . . Keyboard and
Yorkville 100KW 12" 2-Channel Wedge Keyboard Amp and an ancient Traynor
(Yorkville) Amp, probably same 100 KW, but the numbers are no longer legible
and two Shure mics.

My nearest Costco was no help. They had one unit in a battered box that was
an obvious return, but assured me many months ago that they would have in
stock again. It has never reappeared :-)

I would very much appreciate if any of you that have used this type of unit
can confirm that this is what was meant by "power pac" in the note above.
It's not a huge investment, but I'd like to have it work when I turn it on
:-) .
