Shalom Elazar, Every January the US Army Band sponsors a Tuba/Euphonium
Conference at Fort Meyers Arlington Va. They invite noted tuba/euph. players and
ensembles that feature these instruments to perform at the conference. Four
years ago they invited a Klezmer Band from the Boston area to perform. The
group is called the Shirim Klezmer Orchestra. There instrumentation was a
standard dixieland band. (trumpet, trombone, clarinet, tuba, drums, banjo and maybe
a violin. They performed The Klezmer Nutcracker. The music was of course
based on Tchaikovsky but the story I believe was based on The Golden Dreydl. The
group used the melodies from the ballet but played them in a
dixieland/klezmer style including solos. The audience loved it. All the best, stay safe.
