Thanks Bill for the info re: putting the USS IOWA into Stockton, perhaps the distance from Stockton to S.F is a little to long for the big guns to protect S.F from invasion 
   
  I was going to mention the deep water channels to both Sacto and Stockton. Too many none west-coasters know of our inland ports.
