Ed is correct of course, folks, it is indeed a nice fair, and Grass
Valley has a lot of nice people who have migrated there after retiring
from the S.F. Bay area too.

They also have an excellent Sacramento favorite band featured for at
least two nights, Mumbo Gumbo, I always try to catch them at the
Jubilee as they are an excellent and entertaining group.

I believe they will have a Jamba Juice booth there, and I am trying to
get permission to open a GERI-JUICE BOOTH and a Veggie - Viagra Burger
stand next to it. :))

Cheers,

Tom.

Anything for a dollar, eh Tom.

For more information on the Nev County Fair, visit the prettiest Fair
ground
in all of California, Most of the fair is under trees, The Loading
Chute is
preferred by beer drinkers, One f the service clubs offers the best
ears of corn
and not to forget the "King Richards Pasty"

beteewn sets visit the fabulous GOLD display.Other displays are
typical rural
California, however, ex wife took a couple blue ribbons for knitting
after
recovering from a stroke and the daughter out classed several older
ladies with
some baked goods.

I recommend spending a day there regardless of Tom's geriatric
interest

Just to put Things into PROPER PERSPECTIVE HERE FOLKS,

THE FAIR IS IN NEVADA COUNTY which is just down the road a piece form
the sign that says
"Resume Speed" So our friends are not exactly going to show up in the
Social Column of the local newspaper without the credentials of the
good Doctor's in the group, as the regular musicians no doubt do not
warrant enough prestige to be in the honorable mention column.

And I certainly do not mean to personally demeanor any member of this
group, or to infer that they are "NOT" COMPETENT JAZZ PLAYERS and
without a few loyal fans fROm the STJS. But we are talking Nevada
County Fair here folks, held in Grass Valley, Ca, over a five day run
and claims to have had 106,670 attendance ( paid and free) and our
friends are booked for the Final Sunday of the Fair.

Is this a BIG DEAL, NO, BUT IS IT IMPORTANT, YES IT IS, BECAUSE IT IS
YET ANOTHER GIG FOR AN OKOM BAND, which are rapidly disappearing even
in this field of entertainment. Mrs. Johnson's apple Pie is now
considered to be more important than the Band that is playing, or the
prettiest Goat or Cow that will be sold to the highest restaurant
bidder to keep the 4H club going.

f anyone wants to see the rest of the fair entertainment schedule and
activities check them out at :

Bottom line is we all need to go find other events that attract a lot
more people, and get OKOm bands on the bill if we are to keep it alive
and a viable entity for employment for jazz musicians of any caliber.
:))

I will however be having a SENIOR MOBILE CHAIR clinic and a Seminar on
the values of Geritol and Viagra for folks over 60 at the same time as
the Good Doctors will be performing at the Fair. TO SUPPLEMENT MY
MEAGER MUSICIANS RETIREMENT INCOME. :))

CHEERS

Dr. Tom Wiggins ( hope the new title will get me more money and
respect) :))
