Such wonderful responses, and no one has yet expressed the obvious:

A so-called music "educator" saying that a "rag" should not be played by 
a "horn"?  I will refrain from the musical invective due to such an 
imbecilic attitude.  At the very least, he's telling us how small his 
collection of recordings is (or his conception of musical history, 
whichever comes first...),
