Hi all,

For those who follow the recent trends in "Street Brass" - bands from
all over the world that combine bits of things like New Orleans Brass
Bands, Eastern European brass, radical performance art and vaudeville/
clown goofery, there is a new article in the Feb 2006 issue of Spin
magazine of interest. The 4 page article "Blood on the Sousaphone" is
mostly about San Francisco's "Extra-Action Marching Band" and New
York's "Hungry Marching Band." Many pictures and some interesting
writing by Caryn Ganz.

Lots of young folks having a lot of fun (or a bunch of crazy young
punks totally destroying the image of working brass & percussion
musicians - depending on your point of view ;-)

This is a print magazine, but there might be an on-line version of
the article some time in the future at www.spin.com
