I just remembered Frank's story about his job with Turk Murphy.

Frank heard that Turk was auditioning banjo players and, needing work, 
decided to try out for the job. He didn't have a banjo, so bought one 
for $25 from a hock shop. He was intimidated by the virtuoso banjoists 
preceding him at the auditions, and could only play his simple laid back 
rhythm style when his turn came. He got the job. Turk wanted a rhythm 
player, not a soloist.
