[Dixielandjazz] Jazz District proposed for N.O.

Hi all,

The New York Times is reporting today that, as part of the rebuilding of New 
Orleans, the city wants to  create a jazz district on the site of Storyville 
north of the French Quarter.  The proposal is being pushed by Wynton 
Marsalis and is part of the current plans (which also include a light rail 
system connecting the airport and the different parts of the city).  Of 
course, this is one of the first proposed plans and will be altered over and 
over again before anything gets done.  This Jazz District proposal is 
included as part  of the package that would be funded by the federal and 
state governments.
