Ditto Tom Wiggins' comments. I've done a number of parades over the years and agree that a newer generator will do the trick - you can't really hear it over the crowd noise and music anyway. You'll probably not have the need for gobs of power - bass amp and P.A. head won't take much. Even a digital piano won't add very much to your pwer requirements.
If your'e really concerned about possible noise, then you can use an inverter connected to a battery - no noise at all. A small inverter (200 - 400 Watts) would probably be OK. A larger unit would have a "cleaner" power profile.
Don't forget, you're only going to play to the people along the parade route as you pass them by, not the whole town at once!! Minimal amplification would do just fine.
