Thinking about the slippery slide of the instrument being legislated reminds 
of the time back in the 1950's when the theory of dislocations was 
postulated to account for work-hardening of metals. One of the propounders 
of the theory - one Professor N.F. Mott - travelled round lecturing about 
this theory, and he said that, if it hadn't been for an unfortunate 
spoonerism, he would have called the dislocation movement in metals 
"diastrophic catarrhoeia".

I think it's about time someone came up with a definition of a trombone in 
legalese.
