Dear Bob,
For some reason, your email request dated 29 Jan only arrived here last
night (2/3 Feb).
Roy Eldridge made his first records with Teddy Hill on 26 Feb 1935, if you
don't count the rumour regarding the two July 1930 Clarence Williams' sides.
The first recordings under Eldridge's own name were made on 5 Feb 1936.
His first studio recording of "Rockin' Chair" was made with the Gene Krupa
orch on 2 July 1941, then became a favourite with him.
I have the now- famous Krupa/Eldridge "Rockin' Chair" record, but not the
knowledge (yet) about how to convert it to mp3 for 'research' purposes.
Kind regards,
Bill.
