OK you guys here is an excellent chance to promote OKOM and your bands
in the San Francisco, N. California market.

Will be very interesting to see how many if any Traditional Jazz Bands
from around here bother to try and get on the shows.

I( already have a problem, since I can't ( WON'T) do an Authentic New
Orleans Brass Band with only five guys, and neither will I do an
Authentic Dixieland Band show with a trio. Especially on a Free GIG or
one for Promotion and Publicity. Why would Anybody promote only half
of what they are trying to sell? Stupid Marketing Just plain Stupid.

Kind of like making love wearing pantyhose :))

If somebody does not stand up and educate these folks about
Authenticity we will never get any Professional Respect again as
musicians. And the acts will just get hokier and hokier and even more
watered down till they all sound like Kenny G. with a cold. :))

Soon they will be back to the one man Dixieland Band, or worse yet the
Dixieland DJ.

Cheers,

Tom "Keep it Real" Wiggins

KGO Radio is seeking small jazz combos (no more than 5 musicians) for
performances on the Cure-A-Thon, benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma
Society. The event is a 24-hour live show Friday, March 24th through
Saturday, March 25th.

KGO Radio's Cure-A-Thon has raised over $13.5 million over the past
25 years to fight blood cancers. Many of the Bay Area's top names in
entertainment have helped us raise money by donating their talent for
the show.

There is no payment for this event. In return for your time and
talent, we provide you with the best radio promotion in Northern
California. KGO Radio's signal is heard from Mexico to the Canadian
Border as well as streaming on the worldwide web. We are the Number-One
rated broadcaster in the region and have been for 26 straight years, a
feat unmatched by any other U.S.radio station in a top 15 market.
Because of our monster ratings, our airtime is among the most valuable
in the country.

You will be featured "live" playing two tunes per hour for a two hour
stretch. Your band members will be introduced on-the-air by your band
leader. You are encouraged to promote your upcoming performances, CD's
and website and have a good time chatting with our radio hosts.

  Please respond only if:

-You are available anytime on Friday, March 24th 2006 AND Saturday,
March 25th 2006.

-You are established, meaning you have a gig history in the area and
can provide references.

-You play straight-ahead jazz, dinner jazz, smooth jazz, latin jazz,
or other jazz influenced style. Tunes must be uptempo and swing.
Vocalists OK.

-You have a website with sound samples or CD for us to review. Send
links, not attachments please.

Due to the expected volume of responses, we can only respond to those
we may be booking. Thank you for your interest in helping us fight
leukemia and lymphoma on our Cure-A-Thon. We appreciate all who take
the time to reply.

this is in or around ABC Broadcast Center - SF
